The role
Working within the Department of Sociology you will work on a new ESRC Knowledge Exchange grant “Transmissions and Entanglements” which explores inventive methods and modes of knowledge exchange. The project involves two distinct strands:- an on going research project on the history of cycling (in particular women’s garments) and new ways of representing the findings, and a series of meetings, including a conference and associated workshops and exhibition, between academic and non-academic participants to explore knowledge representation in new formats.

You will act as an event manager, undertaking liaison with participants throughout the project. You will also assist with the production and organisation of exhibitions and associated events.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) you will have knowledge and interest in sociology, STS, mobilities (especially cycling) and design as well as an awareness of issues in inventive methods. You will have a proven track record in project co-ordination, or equivalent demonstrated level of skills, responsibility and initiative in work experience. Excellent communication and organisation skills are vital to this role. Knowledge and experience in using visual computing programs to update websites; design and produce materials such as reports, presentations and printed objects.
