Our new fully articulated wooden womannequin arrives

A 1.75cm wooden (wo)mannequin arrived today and she’s more than a bit fabulous.

She’s a life sized (well, actually taller than most of the research team) artist model.

(Though we were a bit surprised by those thighs – they’re not thighs, well certainly not cycling thighs!).

Easily put together, she quickly took to the bike.

We’ll slip her into something a little less comfortable tomorrow – like 1890s cycle wear – and get her on a more fitting period velocipede shortly.

However she just a womanequin for the project. No, she is much more….

The plan is to transform this static human form into an automaton (of sorts) which will help display the project in a much more dynamic context.

The automaton is being built in collaboration with James Fraser – an architect, potter and general all round creative fellow.
