We are busy preparing for the Bloomer Making workshop at Look Mum No Hands on Saturday.
It’ll be held in the back part of the cafe.
We have been tinkering on our bloomer patterns and have two versions for people to make. There is a full or what some have called the ‘ultra-bloom’ bloomer. This would have been worn on its own without a skirt, so it is very generous in shape and form.
The other one is a bloomer which would have been worn under a skirt. As a result it is more narrow and tailored. It also would have been made of a lighter material as there wearer would have overheated quite quickly in too many tweedy layers.
We are preparing pattern packs, gathering buttons, thread, unpicks and measuring tapes, oiling the sewing machines and ensuring there is a lot of cake.
