I also have an appointment next Friday to view garments at the Bath Museum of Costume. They do not have any period cycle wear but they do have a range of female sports apparel which will be of interest – including a white ribbed cotton suit for tennis, ca. 1890s, a bathing costume from the early 1900s, a yachting jacket worn by Queen Alexandra, ca. 1890s, a brown wool tweed bodice and skirt worn for golfing, ca. 1880s and some riding habits, ca. 1850s.
I will be viewing the garments on one of their study tables whereby visitors book a two hour self-led study session and have the opportunity to examine around 6-8 pieces from the museum collection relevant to their area of research at close quarters.
